Synopsis

For months, Mitch Rapp has been steadily working his way through a list of the men responsible for the slaughter of 270 civilians including his own girlfriend in the Pan Am Lockerbie bombing – bullet by bullet. Vince Flynn has announced today on his official website that American Assassin will be adapted into a film by CBS studios.

LOS ANGELES – June 8, 2011 – CBS Films announced today that Oscar©-winner Edward Zwick (The Last Samurai, Blood Diamond) is attached to direct the film adaptation of American Assassin from a screenplay by Zwick and Oscar©-nominee Marshall Herskovitz.  The film is based on the #1 NY Times best-selling novel by Vince Flynn. Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers, RED) via di Bonaventura Pictures and Nick Wechsler (The Road, We Own The Night) will produce along with Zwick and Herskovitz.

American Assassin tells the story of legendary CIA agent Mitch Rapp. Long before he began hunting terrorists, Rapp was a gifted college scholar/athlete.  Then, tragedy struck and Rapp was recruited into the nation’s most elite covert operations program. Senior Vice President of Production Maria Faillace and Creative Executive Ryan Conroy are overseeing the project for CBS Films, which has been developing another Mitch Rapp novel, Consent to Kill.

“We were prepping Consent to Kill when Vince told us he was going to tell Mitch Rapp’s origin story in American Assassin.  From there it was a natural decision to introduce audiences to Mitch Rapp – the man before he became the legend,” recalled CBS Films President and CEO Amy Baer.

CBS Films controls the rights to the entire series as well as any new sequels and spinoffs. CAA represents Edward Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz.  Attorneys Eric Brooks and Carlos Goodman of Bloom Hergott represent Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Nick Wechsler.  Vince Flynn is represented by ICM.

Details of Kill Shot – Mitch Rapp’s Next Adventure Released

Vince Flynn has released more details of his up coming book Kill Shot.  The book follows on from American Assassin following a young Mitch Rapp through his early career with the CIA.

Brian Haig

It was announced today that Brian Haig will be partnering with Vince Flynn to write a new series of counterterrorism novels centring around a New York City based anti-terror operation.

Who is Brian Haig?

Haig graduated from West Point in 1975 and was commissioned an infantry lieutenant. He served as a platoon leader in Germany, three years as an infantry company commander at Fort Carson, Colorado, before he was selected as an intern at the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff where he worked in the Current Operations Directorate on the Lebanon peacekeeping operation. After graduating from Harvard with a master’s degree and a specialty in military strategy, he worked for three years as a global strategist on the Army staff where he was responsible for helping formulate the regional warplan for Southwest Asia and the global war plans against the Soviet Union. He spent three years as the Special Assistant to the Commander-in-Chief of the United Nations Command and Combined Forces Command in Seoul. Haig ended his military career as the Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff – John M. Shalikashvili, where his duties lay with the preparation of all speeches, briefings, public statements, and congressional testimonies.

Haig retired into civilian life in 1997 to become a Director and later President of Erickson Air-Crane and then spent a year as President of International Business Communications. He has written articles for the New York Times, USA Today and Vanity Fair. He is now a full-time author, and works as a Fox News military contributor.

He has a Bachelor of Science from the United States Military Academy, a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard, and a Masters in Government from Georgetown University. Vince Flynn to launch new series with Brian Haig

Vince Flynn, New York Times bestselling author of Pursuit of Honor and the soon to be released American Assassin (October 12, 2010), has signed a new two book deal with Atria Books and Pocket Books to launch a brand new series featuring a New York City based anti-terror operation written in collaboration with writer and retired US Army lieutenant colonel Brian Haig.

“This is a story that I have wanted to tell for many years and teaming up with Brian Haig will afford me the opportunity to pursue this without keeping readers waiting for my next Mitch Rapp novel,” Flynn said, “I’ve been a fan of Brian’s writing since his first book Secret Sanction.  I think he’s one of the best story tellers in America today, and I’m really excited to join forces with him on this exciting project.”

American Assassin – A Mitch Rapp Prequel

Vince Flynn announced this week the title to his newest book “American Assassin” which is due for release on October 21st.

Late last year speaking in his fan newsletter he revealed that this book would be a prequel to the popular Mitch Rapp Series.

It’s the birth of Rapp… how he was recruited and trained, his first kill and his first act of insubordination that lands him in the ultimate snake pit. His superiors back in D.C. know he has some unique talents, but even they could not have guessed just how brutally efficient he would be at bringing the fight to the enemy.

We know from other books that Mitch Rapp was recruited personally by Dr Irene Kennedy, and he was partially chosen as he lost his girlfriend to terrorists in the Pan-Am air crash.  So this should make an exciting read, we also look forward to seeing Thomas Stanfield return as the Director of CIA (in an earlier book Stansfield died of cancer)
